After having my first baby, I wanted to keep her close to me. I felt uneasy when she wasn't in my arms. Now she is thirteen, and I still long for her to be near me. However, as she begins to branch out, I hope she knows that I will be within reach. If she needs me, I will be there for her.
I also know that she will always be within reach of the Savior. No one can stray too far that the Savior cannot reach them. Much like with Peter. As we exercise faith in Jesus Christ, we will know to reach for Him when the heaviness of life begins to pull us under.
How do we reach out to the Savior?
1. Prayer - Share your thoughts, feelings, gratitude, and weaknesses. The more we reach out to the Savior in prayer, the more our relationship with him will develop. We will begin to feel like we are communicating with a close friend.
2. Scripture Study - Christ's life is documented within the scriptures. We can read the ways he reached out to those who needed him. If the Savior did that for them, then he can do that for us. As we reach out to the Savior through scripture study, we will begin to incorporate his teachings into our lives.
3. Temple Attendance - In the temple, we make covenants with God. These covenants draw us closer to the Savior. We learn about his role in the creation of the world and how we fit within the plan of happiness. When we reach out to the Savior through temple attendance, we can feel his peace and comfort.
4. Family History - One of the easiest ways to invite the spirit into our lives is through family history
work. Family History shows us our place in God's eternal plan. It creates within us a desire to bring our ancestors to Christ by performing their work in the temple. As we reach out to the Savior through family history work we will be led to our ancestors who are ready to hear the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

5. Following the Savior's Example - Living the way the Savior lived ensures that we are living a life of compassion. When we genuinely care for others, we begin to feel his love more in our lives. As we reach out to the Savior by following his example, we can bring Christ's love to those around us.
I know the Savior is always within reach. He knows our needs and how to fill them. He is waiting for us to ask Him for His help. He gave his life so that each of us can repent and turn to Him.
