Book Twenty Two : Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
Ridge : for what it's worth, he doesn't deserve you
Me : I know. But it still hurts that I ever thought he deserved me. And honestly, I'm more hurt about Tori than I am about what happened with Hunter. I'm mostly just pissed at Hunter.
Ridge : Yeah, I don't even know that guy, and I've been pretty pissed at him. I can't imagine how you must feel. I'm surprised you haven't retaliated with some evil revenge plot yet.
Me : I'm not that clever. I wish I were, because I'd be all about revenge right now.
Ridge stops walking and turns to face me. He cocks an eyebrow, and a slightly wicked grin appears. It makes me laugh, because I can tell by his smile that he's mapping out a plan.
"Okay," I say, nodding my head without even knowing what he's about to propose. "As long as it doesn't land us in jail."
Ridge : Do you know if he leaves his car unlocked?
At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.
Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…
My Thoughts : I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! The book has so much going on that it is hard to write a review without confusing you or spoiling the ending. So, where do I even start? I was completely sucked into the book from the very first line, and it just got better as the book went on. I honestly read this book in a day. There was no way I could put it down.
I loved the pace of this book. The love story built a little bit more with each chapter, and it didn't go to fast at anyone spot. Between the text messages, the flirting, and those moments they were writing music together, I melted more and more into the book. Colleen wrote the love story so well, that every innocent touch between Sydney and Ridge felt like something more. I couldn't breath during those moments! That is how powerful the writing style was.
I loved Sydney. I loved how she could overcome such a messed up event. She found strength in Ridge, and was able to rebuild her life. I felt deeply connected to her. I laughed. I cried. I loved that from the beginning of the book she knew what she wanted from life and she got it. She became strong, independent, and most importantly happy all by herself. You feel like Sydney's best friend when reading this book and I loved it.
Ridge has been one of the easiest characters to fall in love with. He is simply a good guy. . . . an extremely attractive good guy, but a good guy none the less. When we meet him, he is in the middle of a writing block. He just can't seem to put lyrics to his music, and who ends up helping him? Sydney. Those moments that are writing lyrics together felt very intimate, yet very natural at the same time (I hope that made sense.) It was beautiful so see their lyrics move the story along.
Sydney was cheated on and Ridge has a girlfriend. I HATE love triangles but this isn't your average love triangle. It is much much more. I loved everyone involved in the love triangle, and really didn't know how Colleen Hoover was going to bring a conclusion to it. I didn't want Maggie, Ridge's girlfriend, to get hurt, But, you can't help who you fall in love with. When Colleen did bring a conclusion to the love triangle, it was wrote beautifully! It made complete sense, and was the right choice for everyone involved.
I adored all the twists and turns this book had. I loved how nothing seemed forced or unbelievable. The ending wasn't rushed. OH MY GOSH THE ENDING WAS AMAZING!!! It all came together beautifully and over a good period of time. Honestly, Maybe Someday has to be one of the best written books I have read. It was refreshing and unique, and I need and want more Sydney and Ridge.
If you enjoy a good love story then you have to pick this book up. I know you won't be disappointed. I do recommend this book for the older audience and not teenagers. This is NOT young adult.
