Lux Series

MEET MY NEW OBSESSION
"Hands clenching the edges of the plastic tray, I leaned over the table and turned my plate upside down over Daemon's and Ash's heads. Chunks of noodles and spaghetti sauce fell. . . .
There was an audible gasp that rang out through the surrounding tables.
Dee smacked a hand over her mouth, her eyes wide and full of barely restrained laughter.
Shrieking, Ash leaped from Daemon's lap, her hands out to her sides, palms up. One would think I dumped blood on her considering the horrified look on her face. .. .
Daemon plucked a noodle of his ear and seemed to inspect it before he dropped it on the table. Then he did the oddest thing of all.
He laughed."
Obsidian - Book One
This is was by far my favourite scene from all the books.Besides it being absolutely hilarious, it shows all the reasons why I love Katy so much! At the end of the kindle version, off this book, there is a novella for this scene from Deamon's perspective.
I noticed that a lot of people were talking about how excited they were for the newly released fourth book in the Lux Series. Intrigued as to why everyone was talking about it, I did some research. I found book one on the kindle for just $2.99. . . yes I caved and bought it! One night, while having trouble falling asleep, I picked up my kindle and started reading Obsidian. HOLY CRAP!! I finally convinced myself I needed to sleep but did finish book one the next day. Once I finished that I HAD to continue on in the series. I didn't want to read anything else but this series. . . Almost a week later, I read all four books and the prequel - Shadows. Now I'm itching for book five - Opposition - which isn't due to come out till next summer.
Why has this series become my new obsession in the book world? - First, I loved the story. It is about a girl named Katy, and Katy and her Mum have just moved from Florida to West Virginia. They happened to move next to door to twins, Deamon and Dee, oh and I should mention they are aliens. Even though Katy and Deamon don't get along, Deamon saves Katy from getting hurt by literally freezing time. Katy is now marked by Deamon and then the series takes off . . .
Second, I loved the characters. Katy is a book blogger and starting her senior year in High School. She is timid, bashful, yet has these really feisty moments. (like with the spaghetti scene in book one) I did get frustrated with her in book three but besides that Katy seemed like a girl I would love being friends with. I could see some of myself in Katy which is probably why I liked her so much. Then there is Deamon. Also entering his senior year in High School, He is tall, fit, gorgeous, and an alien. He can be a real jerk, and you just wanna hate him, but he also has very tender moments throughout the series. He loves his family and will do anything to protect them. I think I melted away whenever I read about him :)
I also think this book had a great supporting cast - you are left wondering who are the friends and who are the enemies. There were a lot of surprises and moments that left you saying holy crap what just happened!
Lastly, I love this series because, aliens and drama aside, it was a really sweet love story. People do some crazy things when they are in love and you witness them all in this book. What would you do for the ones you love?
I would highly recommend this series - just be warned that it is mostly a love story with some sci fi elements.
I can not wait to read book five especially because I have no idea what is going to happen!! Book four did leave on a pretty intense cliff hanger.
Also check out the prequel book - Shadows. I read if after Book one and I think that is the perfect time to read it.
