Book Fifteen : Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead
(Vampire Academy book three)
"His lips moved from my neck toward my cheek and then finally found my mouth. We kissed, wrapping ourselves closer together. My blood burned within me, and I felt more alive in that moment than I ever had. I loved him, loved Christian so much that -
Christian?
Oh no."
Rose knows it is forbidden to love another guardian. Her best friend, Lissa - the last Dragomir princess - must always come first. Unfortunately, when it comes to gorgeous Dimitri Belikov, some rules are meant to be broken . . .
Then a strange darkness begins to grow in Rose's mind, and ghostly shadows warn of a terrible evil drawing nearer to the Academy's iron gates. The immortal undead are closing in, and they want vengeance for the lives Rose has stolen.
In a heart stopping battle to rival her worst nightmares, Rose will have to choose between life, love, and the two people who matter most . . . but will her choice mean that only one can survive?
My Thoughts : ARE YOU SERIOUS RICHELLE MEAD!!!? What a crazy, insane, NEVER saw it coming twist at the end! My mind is still trying to process what the heck just happened. I am going to try to put the ending aside for a minute while I try to review this book as a whole.
This is my favourite book so far. I loved it from start to finish. I think Rose's character just continues to have incredible character growth. In this book, I think she was extremely relatable. She learnt that ,despite her inevitable job as a guardian, it was OK to take some time for herself. I also found the "ghosts" to be really interesting. I love how I, as the reader, had an opportunity to put the pieces together, as to why they were around her. My heart was sad for Mason. I liked him.
I think her relationship with Dimitri was beautifully written. I love them as a fictional couple. I also really adore her relationship with Adrian. He brings the much needed comic relief to the book.
I love how this book builds. I wasn't thrown straight into the action which was nice. It also did not start off too slow either. I didn't have to struggle to get to the big fight scene. I am so interested to see where book four goes.
Overall, I LOVED this book!! If you have enjoyed book one and two then you will love book three.
