One of my goals this year is to read seventy five books.
That might sound like a lot of books, but I am pretty confident I can do it. I am also hoping to write my thoughts on each of the books I read. . . . . but if I don't it's ok.
Book One : Altered by Jennifer Rush
"A warm feeling, like Sunshine on bare skin, filled me. He was right, of course. I couldn't argue that. I'd always cared for him, loved him eve, but risking your life for someone changes things. It wasn't just love. It was a million other things all woven together. Emotions I couldn't even name." Anna pg 322
When you can’t trust yourself, who can you believe?
Everything about Anna’s life is a secret. Her father works for the Branch at the helm of its latest project: monitoring and administering treatments to the four genetically altered boys in the lab below their farmhouse. There’s Nick, Cas, Trev . . . and Sam, who’s stolen Anna’s heart. When the Branch decides it’s time to take the boys, Sam stages an escape, killing the agents sent to retrieve them.
Anna is torn between following Sam or staying behind in the safety of her everyday life. But her father pushes her to flee, making Sam promise to keep her away from the Branch, at all costs. There’s just one problem. Sam and the boys don’t remember anything before living in the lab—not even their true identities.
Now on the run, Anna soon discovers that she and Sam are connected in more ways than either of them expected. And if they’re both going to survive, they must piece together the clues of their past before the Branch catches up to them and steals it all away
My Thoughts : I was immediately sucked into this book. During the entire length of the book, there were so many questions going through my mind . Who were these boys? Why were they locked up in a basement? Why can they not remember anything? and so on. The answers to my questions came, throughout the book, as the characters tried to discover the answers as well. It reminded me, a little bit, of the Jason Bourne movies. This book was filled with twists and turns and what I call "HOLY CRAP" moments. I loved it!
The book was about Anna and the four boys, Nick, Same, Trev, and Cas. I found them all to be really likable, interesting characters. I adore Anna, and loved that, even though we were on Sam's journey to discover the past, she discovered a lot about her life as well.
As soon as I finished this book, I wanted to read book two. Thankfully I only have to wait until the 7th of January.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone. Especially, if you are someone who likes to try and guess the different plot twists before they happen (I never see them coming.)
I did read the prequel first, Forged, but I strongly recommend that you save that for after you read Altered.
